A new enterprise agreement for public sector salaried workers will deliver a wage boost for around 37,000 South Australians.

The agreement was put to a ballot of all workers which closed last night after two weeks, following in-principle agreement between the State Government and the Public Service Association (PSA) last month.

The offer has been voted up by of 77 per cent of workers participating in the ballot.

A wide variety of roles across the public sector are covered by the SA Public Sector Enterprise Agreement: Salaried agreement including administrative services officers, corrections officers, sheriffs’ officers, lawyers, child protection, residential care, housing, youth workers and professional officers.

Highlights of the new agreement include:

  • Headline wage increases of 3.75% backdated to 1 August 2025, 3.5% on 1 July 2026, and 3.25% on 1 July 2027.
  • For historically low paid employees, an increase of up to $6,000 to base wages to reflect the gap with Award rates.
  • A tailored package to support correctional officers.
  • Improvements to progression between classifications, and a commitment to review of classification structures during the life of the agreement.
  • A guarantee that no worker will be paid below the Award rate.
  • Improved access to paid parental leave.

Now that the ballot has been successful, the enterprise agreement will be lodged with South Australian Employment Tribunal for approval.
